Most people don’t set out to spend hours on their phones each day. It happens gradually, one notification, one scroll, one “just checking” moment at a time. The downside is that slower, effortful goals โ€” studying, working, exercising โ€” start to feel comparatively unrewarding. When your brain gets used to instant payoff, delayed payoff feels less appealing, even when it matters more.
