Yes, I believe in karma. Not as a mystical force, but as the undeniable reality that no one can escape the consequences of their behavior or actions. In psychology, we often describe this as the principle of cause and effect: every choice sets in motion a ripple, and those ripples eventually return to shape our lives.

Karma from the point of view of psychology? It is essential to understand that karma is the responsibility for what a person does, that is, all actions have consequences. The main argument for the existence of karma is that a person cannot be happy without the right deeds and cannot be good without having earned merit.

This means that when a person behaves well, this behavior most often has a positive result for themselves because they will become better people. The psychological model of karma allows people to take their actions more seriously and understand that they are responsible for their decisions.

Key takeaway

  • Psychological Definition: Karma represents personal accountability, where every action has direct consequences on one’s life and relationships.

  • Social Reflection: While misdeeds may feel unnoticed in isolation, they inevitably surface and impact interpersonal dynamics with partners, friends, and family.

  • The Pursuit of Happiness: True happiness and personal goodness are earned through right deeds and positive merit.

  • Behavioral Reinforcement: Good behavior yields positive personal growth and self-improvement.

  • Decision-Making Impact: Viewing karma through a psychological lens encourages individuals to take their choices more seriously and evaluate long-term outcomes.

In essence:

  • Karma is psychological cause and effect.

  • It teaches responsibility.

  • It empowers change.
